Sull’opera

Con le parole del museo — in olandese

Vadertje Tijd als gevleugelde oude man met zeis in de linker hand, een doodshoofd in de rechter hand. Hij rijdt in zijn zegekar waarvan op de wielen de 12 maanden staan aangegeven en met voorop een spreuk in het Duits en de initialen van de kunstenaar. De wagen, die wordt getrokken door twee herten, rijdt over de attributen die verwijzen naar kerkelijke en wereldlijke macht, naar kunsten, wetenschap, geld en oorlog. Linksboven figuren in de wolken die naar de hemel gaan. Rechtsonder figuren in de hel. De engel uit de apocalyps blaast de bazuin. Met drie kolommen onderschrift in het Duits.
