A limestone Buddha made in Andhra Pradesh in the third century CE is part of the Met's Indian collection in New York. Deep channels define the robe as it stretches across the torso and drops from the raised arm toward the ankles. The back is fully carved, allowing viewing from every side. The freestanding image measures 76.2 cm high.
