Danese CattaneoItalie, 1512–1573Peut-on la contempler ?
Londres, Royaume-Uni
Elle appartient à la collection, mais n’est pas présentée en ce moment.
This bronze statuette of a Venus, is made by Danese Cattaneo in Venice in the middle of the 16th century. It apparently depends from a model of Venus Maria in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna, which is also regarded as being from Cattaneo.
The present piece is cast in a single piece (while the Viennese version is cast in two) and the Venus wears no drapery (while in the Viennese version the Venus holds a drapery over her head).
