This relief in alabaster represents the deposition from the cross. Four men on ladders are shown lowering the body of Christ from the Cross. At the foot of the Cross St Mary Magdalene and another woman support the fainting Virgin Mary. The composition of the image is based on an engraving by the Italian Marcantonio Raimondi.
