In de tempel zit links op de voorgrond Christus, die twee van zijn leerlingen wijst op een gesluierde arme weduwe. Rijk geklede mensen lopen toe op de offerkist om er veel geld in te werpen. De weduwe heeft er slechts twee muntjes ingegooid, maar dat is volgens Christus meer dan de rijken doen, omdat ze van haar armoede heeft gegeven. Onder de voorstelling een verwijzing in het Latijn naar de Bijbeltekst in Mar. 12.
