Femme d'Alger – ou Odalisque – est un tableau réalisé par le peintre français Auguste Renoir en 1870. Cette huile sur toile de format horizontal représente une jeune femme vêtue à l'orientale allongée contre un coussin blanc dans un intérieur décoré. Son modèle est Lise Tréhot, qui figure ici en odalisque algéroise. Exposée au Salon de peinture et de sculpture en 1870 à Paris, l'œuvre passe ensuite entre les mains de Paul Rosenberg. Léguée en 1963, elle est conservée à la National Gallery of Art, à Washington, aux États-Unis.

Lise Tréhot gave birth to a daughter, Jeanne Marguerite; Renoir refused to officially acknowledge paternity or to marry Lise.

Service in a cuirassier regiment
During the Franco-Prussian War Renoir was called up and served in a cuirassier regiment, where he learned to ride. On 10 March 1871 he was discharged from the army and returned to Paris in April.

Incident on the Seine during the Commune
During the Paris Commune, Communards took Renoir, who was painting on the banks of the Seine, for a spy and nearly threw him into the river; the artist was recognized and saved by the Commune leader Raoul Rigault, whom Renoir had once helped.
