À propos de l’œuvre

Marie Sivak was born in Cleveland, Ohio. She studied sculpture at the University of the Arts, Philadelphia, and at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Primarily a sculptor, she also works in the medium of drawing. The drawing 'Nemesis' is related to a group of drawings with the overall title Lacing Atropos, works in which male and female figures are almost completely wrapped in narrow bindings. In Greek mythology Atropos was one of the three Fates, responsible for cutting the thread of life. 'Nemesis' invites interpretation, but offers no obvious narrative in return.
