Создание собирательных образов людей из народа Крамской считал одной из важнейших задач современного искусства. «А народ-то что может дать! Боже мой, какой громадный родник!» — писал он Илье Репину. В портрете Мины Моисеева ярко проявилось свойственное художнику умение концентрировать внимание на самом существенном. В облике крестьянина, в его свободной, непринужденной позе ощущаются внутреннее спокойствие и независимость. Изборожденное морщинами старческое лицо излучает человеческое тепло, доброту, свидетельствуя об умудренности и жизненном опыте. Русский музей. От иконы до современности. СПб. 2015. С . 181.

    Illness: Cardiac Aneurysm

    In the last years of his life Kramskoi suffered from a cardiac aneurysm; he died of an aortic aneurysm while at work.

    Purchase of Land and Building a Dacha at Siverskaya

    In 1881 Kramskoi bought land near Siverskaya station on the right bank of the Oredezh River and built a dacha with a studio there.

    "The Unknown Woman" at the 11th Peredvizhniki Exhibition

    Appearing at the 11th exhibition of the Society for Travelling Art Exhibitions in Saint Petersburg in 1883, "The Unknown Woman" immediately attracted universal attention and gave rise to conflicting interpretations.

    Treatment in Menton, Last Trip Abroad

    In 1884, on the advice of Dr. Sergei Botkin, Kramskoi, suffering from a "heart ailment," made his last trip abroad to Menton in the south of France, accompanied by his daughter Sofia; his last self-portrait was painted there.
