About the sculpture

This wax portrait bust depicts a man in profile to the right, wearing a soft cloth cap. His coat is unbuttoned and his shirt is open to the neck. It seems possible that the figure depicted is the English poet and diplomat, Matthew Prior as the representation seems based on the bust of Prior in Westminster Abbey by Antoine Coyseaux.
