1546 · Événement
the church of San Barnaba in Mantua
According to Vasari, a Latin epitaph was placed on his tomb, 'Romanus moriens secum tres Julius artes abstulit (haud mirum) quatuor unus erat': in dying, Giulio the Roman took three arts with him, for he himself was the fourth. The grave was destroyed during repairs to the church in 1737.
