À propos de la sculpture

John Kelly is a little-known ivory carver active in the 19th century who carved several small royal portraits. Another finely carved relief portrait by him, representing Princess Charlotte Augusta, is in the V&A collection (A.21-1938). The bust of King George III has a label indicating that the object belonged to Queen Victoria. The small base is interestingly made of turned ivory and tainted.
