À propos de la sculpture

This group, representing Hercules and the Centaur, is made by Giovanni Caccini in Florence in 1594/5. The model is apparently a study for the restoration of the antique marble group of this subject in the Uffizi. The restoration of this group was undertaken by Caccini and completed by 8th July, 1595. Caccini (1556-1612/13) trained both in architecture and in sculpture, worked as a portraitist mainly in Florence.
