Marries Sophia Goltzius and settles in Alkmaar
He marries Sophia Jansdochter Goltzius, the younger sister of Hendrick Goltzius; the couple have at least six children, of whom four survive. Drebbel works at first as a painter, engraver and cartographer, but is in constant need of money because of his wife’s profligate lifestyle.
