Meets Marie Triepcke in Paris
On a trip to Paris he meets Marie Triepcke, whom he had known in Copenhagen; after a whirlwind romance they marry — the wedding on 23 July 1889 takes place at her parents' home in Germany. Marie, also a painter, painted very little after her marriage, but became part of the Skagen community and often appears in his paintings; their double portrait, in which she painted him and he painted her, is well known.
