À propos de l’œuvre

A collage of images of women’s body parts, household objects, and fruit, cut from Paul Outerbridge’s book “Command Performance”. Drawing inspiration from Valerie Solanas’ feminist tract SCUM (Society for Cutting Up Men) Manifesto, produced in the late 1960s, Kurland founded her own related initiative: the Society for Cutting Up Men’s Books. Using photobooks from her personal library, she selected monographs that featured the work of white male photographers and excised images from their publications, which she then repurposed and reimagined in the form of collages.
