La vie entière4 July 1637
Marriage to Anna Brueghel
He married Anna Brueghel, daughter of Jan Brueghel the Elder; Rubens, the bride's guardian, was a witness at the wedding. The marriage strengthened Teniers's close ties with Rubens.
1651
Court Painter in Brussels
Summoned by Archduke Leopold Wilhelm to the Brussels court, he was appointed court painter (pintor de cámara) and keeper of the archduke's extensive art collections.
1655
Title of Chamberlain
He received from the archduke the title of "ayuda de cámara" (valet de chambre) — an extremely unusual honor for a painter; only one comparable case of the time is known — Velázquez.
1660
Publication of the "Theatrum Pictorium"
The album of engravings Theatrum Pictorium ("Theatre of Painting") was published in Brussels — in essence, the first illustrated catalogue of a private painting collection in history.
