In 1965 Vasarely is included in the Museum of Modern Art exhibition “The Responsive Eye”, created under the direction of William C. Seitz.

Grand Prizes in São Paulo and Ljubljana, an arts order
In 1965 Vasarely wins the Grand Prize at the 8th São Paulo Biennale and at the 6th International Graphic Art Exhibition in Ljubljana, the gold medal of the Paris society for the promotion of art and industry, and is made a knight of the Order of Arts and Letters.

The “Tribute to the Hexagon” and “Vega” series
The “Hommage à l'hexagone” series consists of endless transformations of indentations and relief with colour variations, a perpetual mobile of optical illusion; the “Vega” series plays with spherical swelling grids that create an illusion of volume.
1966–1969
Honorary citizen of New Orleans and other honours
In 1966 he is made an honorary citizen of New Orleans and wins a prize in Kraków and a gold medal in Rimini; in 1967 a prize of Japan's foreign minister at the Tokyo Biennale and a Carnegie Institute prize; in 1968 the “Prestige du Papier”; in 1969 a first prize in Kraków and the first “Golden Palette” at Cannes.
