  1. July – September 1847

    Fourth Visit to Saint Petersburg

    In July 1847 Krüger arrived in Saint Petersburg for the fourth time to repair damage to four portraits of the sons of Nicholas I; he left in September, having received a commission for the painting "Parade in Potsdam."

  2. 1848

    Depression in the Year of Revolution; Departure for Dessau

    During the Revolution of 1848 Krüger suffered a severe depression and left Berlin. In Dessau he completed the painting "Parade in Potsdam."

  3. 1850

    Fifth Visit to Saint Petersburg

    In 1850, on his fifth visit to Saint Petersburg, Krüger painted the "Portrait of Pyotr Volkonsky," sketches for four paintings of officers and enlisted men of the Russian Guard, and six portraits of Nicholas I's inner circle; he was awarded the Order of Saint Anna, 2nd class. In April 1851 he returned to Berlin.
