    Settles in Berlin

    After he moves to Berlin his style becomes more expressionist. His early work had been influenced by Impressionism, Jugendstil and Symbolism, but much of it he destroyed himself.

    Die Brücke

  3. 1911

    Works and travels with Kirchner, Pechstein and Heckel

    In 1911, already a member of Die Brücke, he works and travels with Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Max Pechstein and Erich Heckel.

  4. 1913

    Die Brücke disbands; ties with Kirchner and Heckel remain

    After Die Brücke disbands in 1913, Mueller keeps up a close association with Kirchner and Heckel; at the same time he is in contact with the artists' group Der Blaue Reiter.

  5. 1914–1918

    Fights as a soldier in the First World War

    During the First World War he fights as a German soldier in France and Russia.
