May one see it?
London, United Kingdom
It belongs to the collection, but is not on display at present.
This terracotta bust is made by an unknown artist in Florence in the late 15th century or early 16th century.
It is the portrait of a young man, who could perhaps be the young St. John the Baptist.
The figure is represented almost half length, with the arms cut off above the elbow. He wears a tunic with a high collar, and a mantle over the left shoulder passing under the right arm. His hair is parted in the centre and falls in thick curls on either side, and the head, with half-closed eyes, looks slightly down.
