About the sculpture

This bronze belongs to a series of women at their toilet identified from the inventory made at Prieur's death in 1611 and the posthumous inventory of the collection of André Le Nostre in 1700. This model exists in several versions which differ in quality, indicating that production continued over a long period. The present cast appears to be modern.
