About the sculpture

This is a bronze statuette made in the middle of the 16th century. This statuette representing a winged boy blowing a cornet is the work of a Nuremberg foundry. A natural touch typical of Nuremberg art at this time is the little dog howling at the boy's feet. This statuette is probably originally one of two or more such music-making boys attached to a sculptural complex, the figure show direct Italian influence.
