May one see it?
London, United Kingdom
It belongs to the collection, but is not on display at present.
This relief which is broken irregularly round the edge, shows the Virgin in half-length, in profile to the right holding the Child against her left shoulder. The Child's head is turned in three-quarter face to the right and his left hand rests on the Virgin's neck. The Virgin's hair is brown and she wears a pale blue cloak fastened with a brooch at her right shoulder, over a red dress. A number of versions of this relief exist including an example in Berlin. The composition which cannot be attributed to a known hand, seems to date from the third quarter of the fifteenth century.
