In the museum's own words — in Dutch

Drie putti houden een rol met afbeelding vast van Minerva met schild en lans zittend op een voetstuk waarop boeken van David van Goorle (Gorlaeus) en Johann Ludwig Gottfried. Met haar voet rust zij op een stromende kruik. Daarnaast zit een leeuw met zwaard en wapen van Leiden. In de achtergrond de burcht en Universiteit van Leiden.
