May one see it?
London, United Kingdom
It belongs to the collection, but is not on display at present.
This is a bronze statuette on a painted and gilt wood pedestal made in the 16th century in Italy. The statuette is adapted from an antique prototype and representing Victory. The persinification of Victory is as a winged, female figure; She is the messenger to the gods, a kind of angel who descended to earth to crown the victor in a contest of arms, athletics or poetry.
