The World's Fair in Paris
In 1878 at the World's Fair in Paris Perov showed “The Wanderer”, “The Birdcatcher”, “The Fisherman”, “Fomushka the Owl” and “Hunters at Rest”, along with portraits of F. M. Dostoevsky and V. V. Bezsonov.

Typhus and pneumonia undermine his health
At the end of 1881 typhus and pneumonia finally undermined Perov's health.

Stories in the “Art Journal”
Perov wrote not only with paint: in his last years he worked with L. P. Sabaneev's journal “Nature and Hunting”, and a number of his stories were printed in N. A. Aleksandrov's “Art Journal”.

Death from consumption in the Golitsyn hospital
Perov died of consumption in his 49th year in the small Golitsyn hospital on the Kuzminki estate near Moscow; he was buried in the cemetery of the Danilov Monastery, and his remains were later moved to the cemetery of the Donskoy Monastery.
