    Return to Paris

    In 1641 Swanevelt returned to Paris, where he remained for the rest of his life, only occasionally visiting his native Woerden. He took part in the decoration of the Hôtel Lambert together with Jan Asselijn.

    French citizenship

    In 1644 Swanevelt was granted French citizenship.

  3. 1650

    Marriage to Suzanne Rousseau

    In 1650 Swanevelt married Suzanne Rousseau.

  4. 1651

    Admission to the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture

    In 1651 Swanevelt was admitted to the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture. In France he enjoyed the patronage of Cardinal Richelieu and King Louis XIV.
