    “The Locus of Memory” in Brooklyn and Washington

    In 1994 the exhibition “Louise Bourgeois: The Locus of Memory, Works 1982–1993” was shown at the Brooklyn Museum and the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and in 1995 at the Galerie Rudolfinum in Prague.

    The Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale

    In 1999 Bourgeois received the Golden Lion at the 48th Venice Biennale.

  5. 2000

    “Maman” in the Turbine Hall of Tate Modern

    Bourgeois’s works were chosen for the opening of Tate Modern in 2000, and in the Turbine Hall, as a commission for the Unilever Series, “Maman” first appeared: a spider over nine metres high in steel and marble, later cast in an edition of six bronzes.

  6. 2001–2002

    An exhibition at the Hermitage

    In 2001–2002 the Hermitage held an exhibition of Bourgeois’s work: sculptures, objects and lithographs.
