  1. 1863

    Takes part in the Salon des Refusés

    In 1863 Boudin took part in the Salon des Refusés in Paris, alongside Édouard Manet, Camille Pissarro, James Whistler and other artists.

  2. 1874

    The First Impressionist Exhibition

    Boudin showed alongside Monet and his young friends at the First Impressionist Exhibition, though he never considered himself a radical or an innovator.

  3. 1881

    Exhibitions in Boston and Paris

    In 1881 several exhibitions of Boudin's work were organised in Boston and Paris.

  4. 1889

    Gold medal at the Exposition Universelle

    At the 1889 Exposition Universelle Boudin was awarded a gold medal.

  5. 1898

    Returns to Deauville, sensing the end is near

    Recognising that his life was almost spent, Boudin returned to his home in Deauville to die within sight of the English Channel, under the skies he had painted so often.
