May one see it?
London, United Kingdom
It belongs to the collection, but is not on display at present.
Thaxted, a small town north of Saffron Walden and Dunmow, is renowned as one of the most beautiful in Essex; its church is known as 'the Cathedral of Essex' because of its size and grandeur. However, Du Plessis has chosen to depict Thaxted from a distance, seen across the surrounding fields. From this vantage point, even the soaring spire of the church seems small and fragile.
