First Exhibition Appearance
He exhibited for the first time in 1901 at the Exhibition of French Artists.
1902
Meeting Berthe Weill
In 1902 he was introduced to the gallerist Berthe Weill and began showing his work in her gallery.
1903
Salon des Indépendants; Painting Bought by Maurice Denis
In 1903 he exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants; a notable mark of recognition was the purchase of one of his paintings by the artist Maurice Denis.
1905
Turn to Fauvism
After seeing Matisse's "Luxe, Calme et Volupté" at the Salon des Indépendants in 1905, Dufy turned to Fauvism with its bright colour and bold outlines; his painting followed this aesthetic until about 1909.
1906
First Solo Exhibition
In 1906 Dufy's first solo exhibition opened at Berthe Weill's gallery.
