In een vertrek met gotische betimmering ligt Maria op haar sterfbed, een kaars in de hand, vastgehouden door een priester. Aan het voeteneinde een monnik met bel. Links een groep apostelen en rouwende figuren. Linksvoor de slapende Johannes bij het haardvuur.
