About the work

In the museum's own words — in Dutch

Drie scènes uit het leven van Ignatius van Loyola. Centraal Ignatius de Loyola op zijn sterfbed. Zijn volgelingen rondom hem. Loyola sterft terwijl hij de naam van Christus aanroept. Middenboven verschijnt de pasgestorven Loyola aan een vrouw in Bologna. Rechts knielt Loyola voor paus Paul III en verkrijgt hij de toestemming om de Jezuïetenorde op te richten. De prent heeft Latijnse onderschriften met verwijzingen naar de scènes in de prent. De prent is deel van een vijftiendelige serie over het leven van Ignatius van Loyola.
