May one see it?
London, United Kingdom
It belongs to the collection, but is not on display at present.
This is a statuette in calcareous stone, depicting St. Michael overcoming Satan. It was made in Abruzzo, Italy, probably in the 17th century. St. Michael, wearing richly decorated armour, stands on the back of the demon and on a moulded and pierced base. His right hand is raised and the left hand is holding a shield inscribed 'QVIS VT DEVS.' This statuette has been broken in half and joined with seccotine. The head and right hand have been broken away.
