About the sculpture
This model for a plaquette depicts St John the Baptist standing resting on his left leg, the right knee bent. The skin falls round the body and over his left shoulder. His head is inclined to the right while his right elbow rest on a rock behind him his staff with ribbons is held in his right hand. At his feet to the right lies the lamb looking up at him. There is a border or laurel wreath bound with ribbon. A portion of the border to the right is missing.
