About the sculpture

Jessica Loughlin (b.1975) is one of the most exciting young Australian glass makers, working in a highly distinctive, individual style. Working with Bullseye plate glass, she makes wall-mounted or free-standing three-dimensional 'pictures' in multi-layered glass, which invite deep contemplation.

Inspired by the vast and open Australian landscape, she use the translucent and opaque qualities of glass to capture, absorb and emit light. Such pieces change constantly with the ambient light. Her box sculpture, 'Space Between 9/05', incorporates the purest opaque white glass, conveying the essence of a vast, snowy sky and landscape.
