After 1920 he is increasingly occupied with portraits of wealthy and distinguished Parisians — Sacha Guitry, the fashion designer Jeanne Lanvin, her daughter the Countess Marie-Blanche de Polignac, the inventor Marcel Kapferer — usually in their studios, homes or backstage, preferring distemper on canvas.

Care for the actress Lucie Belin
Vuillard had a long relationship with the actress Lucie Belin; when she fell ill in the 1920s, he arranged a pension for her.

The artist’s mother dies
Vuillard lived with his mother until he was sixty, until her death. She was a dressmaker, and the world of fabrics and clothes surrounded him from childhood.
