Self-Portrait with Dishevelled Hair, also known as Self-Portrait at an Early Age, is an early self-portrait by the Dutch Golden Age artist Rembrandt. The painting has been in the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam collection since 1960, and is an exercise in chiaroscuro. It is one of the earliest of over forty painted self-portraits by Rembrandt, there is a copy in the collection of the National Trust which was created by his workshop.

First Etchings
In 1626 Rembrandt created his first etchings. It was largely the wide circulation of his prints that brought him international fame.

Own Studio with Jan Lievens
Returning to Leiden in 1627, Rembrandt opened his own studio together with Jan Lievens and began taking on pupils. Within a few years he had gained wide renown.

Meeting Constantijn Huygens
In 1629 the artist was noticed by the poet and patron Constantijn Huygens, secretary to the Prince of Orange. He helped Rembrandt connect with wealthy clients and commissioned religious paintings for the Prince of Orange.
