May one see it?
London, United Kingdom
It belongs to the collection, but is not on display at present.
This gilded terracotta relief was probably made by Alessandro Algardi in the 17th century Rome, Italy. This relief represents Christ entering the rocky mouth of Hell from the left and holds a flag in his left hand. Before him kneel Adam and Eve, King David with a harp, and a bearded man. All these figures are modelled partly in the round. In the background, in low relief, are a bishop and other figures. In a black moulded wood frame of later date.
