About the work
A view looking westwards along Queen's Road, the first substantial road built after colonisation by the British in 1841; the road followed the northern coastline of Hong Kong Island for four miles. As a result of extensive reclamation Queen's Road today lies several hundred yards inland. The harbour is just visible on the right. George Chinnery paid a six-month visit to Hong Kong in 1846.
