About the work

In the museum's own words — in Dutch

Thisbe treft haar geliefde Pyramus stervend aan. Hij ligt op de grond bij twee bomen met een mes in zijn borst gestoken terwijl zij geschrokken naast hem staat. Links staat de leeuwin die in het verhaal de sluier van Thisbe aan stukken scheurt, deze sluier ligt op de grond. Tussen de bomen is een stad zichtbaar.
