Potter Gate, Lincoln, Peter De Wint, ca. 1800-1849

Potter Gate, Lincoln

ca. 1800-1849 · Watercolour · 28.8 × 39.8 cm

About the work

Lincoln was the childhood home of De Wint's wife and brother in law, and he spent many summers there. Here he subtly captures Lincoln and its cathedral in the warm light and long, definite shadows of a summer's evening.
