The May Queen festival at Whitelands College
In the 1880s Ruskin becomes involved with Whitelands College, a training college for teachers, where he institutes a May Queen festival that endures today.
1883–1884
Return to the chair and a second resignation
In 1883 Ruskin resumes his professorship, only to resign again in 1884; he gives opposition to vivisection as his reason, but he had increasingly been in conflict with the University authorities, who refused to expand his Drawing School.
