Hа первом плане поверхность земли, покрытая травой. В левой части полотна деревянная избушка, за ней высокие зеленые деревья. В правой части кустарник и деревья. Hа втором плане голубая водная поверхность. Hа противоположном крутом берегу несколько зданий. У линии горизонта лес. Больше половины плоскости холста занимает изображение голубого неба, покрытого облаками.

Academy Fellowship Abroad: Munich
As a stipendiary of the Academy he went to Munich, where he visited the studios of the popular animal painters, the brothers Benno and Franz Adam.

Zurich: With Koller, First Etchings
He moved to Zurich, where under the guidance of Rudolf Koller he painted animals from life and first tried engraving with aqua regia; from there he made an excursion to Geneva to see the works of Diday and Calame.
