About the sculpture

The salient feature of this ceramic sculpture is the chains of movable rings. The title of the piece, 'palace censer', refers to this feature. Xing Liangkun built this sculptural form in sections, then joined them together before firing. He had to make a special preparation so that the glazed rings would not fuse together during the firing.
