About the painting
Scenes such as this one of modern-day Kolkata can often be found amongst Kalam Patua's subject themes. The urban landscape of cars, skyscrapers, advertising banners and slogans is shown juxtaposed against the toil of the Rickshaw-wallah transporting wealthy passengers through the busy streets.
