Anverso: Sacando la barca. Escena de playa. Cuatro bueyes en fila de a dos, en escorzo, caminando hacia el primer plano, arrastran hacia la orilla la barca con mástil situada en segundo plano, a la izquierda del dibujo. Tras los bueyes, dos figuras humanas muy esquemáticas y otra barca al fondo. Reverso: Mujer sentada. Figura femenina de cuerpo entero, de perfil, sentada en una silla. Se inclina hacia delante apoyándose con los brazos cruzados sobre una mesa y manteniendo la silla sobre las patas delanteras. Viste sombrero de cuya parte posterior cae una tela sobre la espalda, y vestido largo, ceñido a la cintura.

A medal of honour in Madrid for “Sad Inheritance”
The painting won the medal of honour at the National Exhibition in Madrid. Two of its luminous preparatory oil sketches Sorolla gave as gifts to the American artists John Singer Sargent and William Merritt Chase.

Galerie Georges Petit: nearly 500 works
A one-man show at the Galeries Georges Petit in Paris — figures, landscapes, portraits, early works and recent sun-drenched beaches — eclipsed all his earlier successes. His productivity amazed critics, the show was a financial triumph, and it brought him the rank of Officer of the Legion of Honour.
