Gregorius zit op zijn knieën voor het altaar. Op het altaar verschijnt Christus die hem zijn bloedende wonden toont. Naast Christus verschijnen de passiewerktuigen. Op de achtergrond geestelijken. Een kardinaal draagt de pauselijke tiara van Gregorius.
