The owner is known. Whether it is on view today, the museum does not say, and we were not trained to guess.
This little figure appears twice in The Gates of Hell – first close to The Thinker, and again head down on the central pillar. Rodin quickly turned it into a separate work and used it in other groups. This plaster version has a dedication to the Swedish businessman and amateur artist Charlie Waern, who allegedly modelled for the figure.
