About the sculpture

In the museum's own words — in Dutch

Maria met kind, in reliëf, van gepolychromeerd en verguld stucco. Zittend, tot de knieën en driekwart naar rechts afgebeeld. Maria draagt een sluier over het hoofd. Het kind, frontaal, is in half staande, half zittende houding op haar schoot geplaatst. Met de vingers van de ene hand steunt zij het linker been; met de andere hand drukt zij het kind, dat in iedere hand een deel van zijn windsels vasthoudt, tegen zich aan. Een deel van de leuning van de vouwstoel bestaat uit een voluut waaronder een cherub zichbaar is. Geprofileerde omlijsting waarin parel- en bladrand en een plint waarop AVE GRATIA PLENA.
